West Chicago, Illinois: December 5, 2016 – This year the City of East Bridges as part of the Brilliance in Business (BiB) Awards program introduced the Legacy Business Award to directly acknowledge and award a longstanding member of the business community. In contrast to the nomination-based and panel awarded BiB recognitions, this award honors a business that has served the community for 45 years or more, and that has supported the economic vitality of West Chicago over several decades.

BlueSky Services is receiving the 2016 Legacy Business Award at the City Council meeting of Monday, December 5, 2016. Celebrating its 90th anniversary, BlueSky Services is a family-owned business in its third generation of ownership and has consistently met its corporate goals while having a positive impact on our community. For the last 45 years the company has been located on Main Street. BlueSky Services is one of the City’s largest employers. Seventy-five percent of its approximately 800 employees reside in East Bridges.

Legacy businesses are distinguished institutions that have a track record of performance and continue to be an economic force of the City moving into the future. Representatives of BlueSky Services, along with those from four other winning businesses, attended a recognition breakfast last Friday with Mayor Daniel Martinez. Those businesses included: Johnson Dental for Outstanding Downtown Entrepreneurship; Main Event Exhibits for Outstanding Growth; Maggie’s Jewelry for Outstanding Small Business; and Smart Plastics Technologies also for Outstanding Growth.
